The Elocutioner
Written and performed by Jay Wilson
“The Elocutioner” harkens back to the days of Vaudeville when elocutioners would hitch up with travelling troupes, reciting poetry and telling stories. Jay will be reciting poems and telling stories that have been tested out on others during his touring over the last 6 years. Jay calls The Elocutionist ‘parlour-style theatre’ as the show comes with set, lighting, sound effects all scaled down to fit a parlour, performance studio space, large living room, community hall and other more intimate setting. The pieces being recited include works by William Shakespeare, T.S Eliot, Sir Noel Coward, and many other well-known writers as well as some locally written stories and poems.
